Last night I was drawing a bumble bee, but after five minutes I felt like drawing a worm instead so I left the beedrawing. This morning my son found it one the livingroom table and asked me if he could help me finish my drawing. He did, and he also drawed a bigger, more frightening and angrier bumble bee thats actually the smaller ones mum. AND some worms. I love his creativity!
This weeks weekword is "lesson" and Alexandra picked it. I have been working with lessons during the week in mu tutorial posts so now I´m going with another interpretation. My daughter wish to take lessons in ballet and after christmas she will. It´s exiting when the kids get older and get interested in certain things, I´m looking forward to seeing her dance!

Couldn´t resist buying the mumin tray, just love the Tove image that´s on it (from the dangerous journey). I finished my pattern so now we are taking weekend over here...
After printing the drawing from photoshop I attacked it again with my pen, to fill the gaps and work with how it was repeated.
When I felt as if it was "done" I scanned it again. I used the magic wonder tool to get rid of the background. Select the "background"and then make the selection inverse and cut and make a new document with transparent backgroundcolor, then paste the pattern and it´s done! Then it´s just to repeat the step from yesterday and repeat it as you wish.
Mine turned out like this! I´m still not pleased with how it repeats so I decided to wrap it again (by using the filter tool), print it and attack the gaps with my pen. To be continued!
I have had alot of questions about patterns and how they are made. Earlier I have showed different ways to get started as a pattern designer, here, here and here.
I take a new paper, I chose A4 so that it will fit my scanner, it´s possible to work on bigger papers, like I´ve done here. But it´s not a good way to get started. Another option is to just take a drawing and scan it, it has to be one thats only in the middle of the paper otherwice the tool won´t work. Then I draw and when I feel like testing how it´s repeating I scan my drawing into photoshop. It´s possible to draw and fill almost the whole paper, just remeber to leave the sides!
Then I go to the image size box to find out exactly how many pixels big my image is. I take the numbers and dived them by 2. 455/2=227,5 and 672=336. I write down the numbers on a paper.
Then I go to "Filter", "other" and "offset". In the box I write the numbers and I round up the 227, 5 to 228 to make it easier. then I klick the "wrap around" box and enter.
And I get this result. The image splits itself into 4 and the middle of the drawing is now out on the sides.
Next step is to make a new document, make sure it has the same resolution as your old one.
Or atleast first round. I think this pattern needs more work cause it´s to much gaps and it´s not repeating nice. So what I do now is that I make the canvas of my "original" a bit bigger and then I Print it. And then I continue to draw IN THE MIDDLE of the drawing...
Weekword :hole. We had holes in the celing of our bathroom. Now they are filled holes and tomorrow they will be forgotten holes, cause we are painting the celing.
This morning I had coffee with Alexandra and she gave me these great cards as a gift. The lady with the french fries is my favourite!

Last night I held a lecture and a workshop about patterns and how to make them. It was at design and interior where karin is teaching. It was nice and I came to think about the time I spent at preparation schools, before university. How nice it was back then when creating something was just fun and a new knowledge. Yesterday I got a taste of that joy:)

Still working on my logo.
One year ago I blogged this image. It says ""In her dreams she could fly. In her dreams she could reach the spots that she never ever had been able to clean before." (klick for bigger).
This drawing is done. It´s very big and it was astruggle to get it done. I feel that life is a bit of a struggle right now, life and art and combining life and art. I have to get it to work, like this drawing. It has to work. Still not sure that it does though. (klick it to see it bigger!)
