reflection on ongoing work

My head is filled with images that I´m putting down on paper this summer. Without actully aiming for a childrens collection I´m making one. Right now without a purpose and for me (as a designer) thats odd, I aways have some kind of goal. Either it´s a drawing (then thats the goal) or a pattern for textile or wallpaper.

For me sketching with graphite is unusual, I´m always more direct and use ink from the start. Then one thing leads to another and I´m solving the drawing as it grows. Starting over and over and over and using my lightning table. Now I use a rubber and it´s like being on a holiday. A holiday that suits this hectic summer perfect.

Home sweet home?

We are home and back on ordinary days track, or atleast I am. I already miss the summer house. Top images is J and the kids out with the boat the last evening, it makes me think of the summers I used to stay there for months. I was younger and life was so different, but the summer evenings are still the same, and the light. And the sounds. And the smells.

Nice museum!

Yesterday we visited Lesjöfors museum and I Just love the fifties so there was alot of stuff to look at. Just wish some of the fantastic things would be mine...

My interpretation had to do with the childrens song I have worked with before (and again) and never finished. I  didn´t manage to get it done this time either but I started with the drawing of 5 birds. Next step is to have one fall down...

Being with the kids during the day, working in the late evenings.

I am working on a new pattern, in august I´ve got some portfolio meetings and I need something new and fresh. Sometimes when I work I start by using color and sometimes I work in black/white and then add color. Lately I´ve been sketching black/white and then simplify with granit and then add color. A new method that is interesting and more thoughtful. Coloring is a struggle for me, especially when there is a limited amount of colors.

Lazy days

Lazy days in the sun. Sweden is hot these days and we are loving it.

Flavor of summer. In sweden the winter is so grey and dull so when summer comes everything explodes and it´s just fantastic. Every summer is like a new taste. Go to Aimee to see who els is playing!

Buns!

The kids are on summer holiday from kindergarden. We take turns at staying home with them. Today we spent the afternoon making buns and then eating them. And putting some in the freezer.

Late weekword

My idea was to fill the paper and leave the word nothing blank, but as you can see time was to short!

New experience!

Yesterday I assisted Elisabeth at a photo shoot, it was my first experience with this kind of work and it was very interesting to see how professional the whole production was. Especially Elisabeth, shes got an exeptional fingertip feeling in all her work and I really enjoyed watching her and learning!

Thursday it is!

A birthdaycard for a girl where I work.
Today I´m going for lunch with karin and tomorrow I´m helping Elisabeth with this photo shoot, Things to look forward to!
